#HOW TO INSTALL TRANSMISSION COOLER 2000 CHEVY BLAZER CODE#
After taking my truck to a local autozone for a code scan, which brought back no codes, I took the truck to my local dealer for a diagnosis. I discovered a leak into the transmission cooling line and replaced it. My Trailblazer would not shift out of second gear now. While driving on the highway, my truck rpm's began to rev, and I began to lose speed. I suspect it was the transmission line similar to the Trailblazer transmission line.Īll problems of the 2002 Chevrolet Trailblazer The fire marshal at the time thought a line of some type had burst. Fortunately he was able to exit the vehicle and get his family out before the entire truck was engulfed in flames.

After he had driven it on an interstate, another driver yelled at him that his car was on fire. What brought my attention to this is the fact I had a 1995 jimmy and had noticed a similar leak when it was 8 years old. Speaking with aamco mechanics who replaced the lines, they felt it is a real fire hazard. However, the fluid was found after being on the highway at 70mph splattered on the undercarriage and surrounding area of the vehicle. The vehicle was stationary when the leak was noticed. The placement of the transmission cooling lines are very close to the converter and if excessive fluid is splattered on the converter, a fire could result. At first I thought the leak was oil from the engine, but upon checking closer, I found the transmission lines leaking. When the vehicle is in motion the fluid is blown onto the catalytic converter and could start a fire under the vehicle exposing the vehicle occupants to extreme danger. Eventually the lines start to leak transmission fluid. This covering creates an area where moisture collects causing the lines to rust. A portion of the lines are covered with a protective and loose fitting cover which appears to be aluminum almost like a tin foil. No leaks so far, but I will keep an eye on it.The cooling lines from the transmission of the 2002 Chevrolet Trailblazer exit the transmission next to the catalytic converter. Once the radiator was in place, I connected the trans and oil cooler lines by inserting them into the fittings until they clicked into place. I installed the fittings on the radiator first. It would be best to bring the old fittings if you’re going to get new ones.

I checked the receipt, the part # for the oil cooler fitting was 800-607. The Dorman/Motormite Part # for the trans fitting is 800-605. The oil cooler fitting has an external o-ring where it screws into the radiator. The trans fitting (small) does not have an external o-ring. I checked the old fittings when I got home from work. I had to purchase the oil cooler fittings separately. The new radiator came with new transmission line fittings already installed. I’ll check the old fittings to make sure, I’ll post back if I’m incorrect. There are internal o-rings on both the oil cooler and transmission line fittings. I replaced the radiator on my 2000 Blazer 3 weeks ago.
